The Associate Director of Sales Incentive Design is responsible supporting sales growth in UnitedHealthcare s Medicare, Medicaid and Individual & Family Plans (IFP) businesses by designing compensation programs for employee sales agents and management roles as well as broker agencies. This individual will work closely with sales leadership, human capital, sales operations, legal and the compensation administration teams to build incentive programs that meet and exceed growth objectives. As a leader on the Sales Commissions and Incentives team, this individual will be a consultative expert in incentive compensation plan design, modeling, administration, and governance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead compensation projects including program design, market analysis, integration of acquisitions, and new program implementation while maintaining alignment to overall compensation philosophy
  • Provide support for calculation of incentive compensation payouts by writing and interpreting plan documents, implementing controls to maintain payment accuracy, and reviewing payout trends
  • Design non-standard financial incentives (e.g. forgivable draws, SPIFs)
  • Partner with Finance to ensure bonus payouts are consistent with corresponding financial measures
  • Provide analytics in the review of current incentive plans for effectiveness against objectives
  • Recommend modifications to current plans or development of new plans to leadership
  • Create robust analyses, including financial impact and regression against current plans, to be used as decision support about program modification or new plan development
  • Develop employee education and communication materials for compensation programs to ensure target audience comprehension and program adoption
  • Maintain knowledge of current best practices in the compensation field (e.g. theories, frameworks, calculation methodologies, technologies, trends)
  • Lead various special projects as required You ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
    • 3+ years of experience designing sales incentives plans and programs
    • 3+ years of experience compensation consulting to a variety of audiences, including senior and executive leaders
    • 3+ years of experience in compensation impact and budget analysis
    • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements.       Preferred Qualifications:
      • MBA or equivalent business degree
      • Certified Compensation Professional CCP
      • Previous experience within the health care industry and/or Medicare
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Advanced analytical and information gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive detailed data
      • Prior experience successfully managing multiple requests, assessing priorities, and achieving solutions under deadlines

        Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
