This role may be Minnetonka office based or telecommute.Primary Responsibilities:

• Manages a team of more than ten finance professionals and is responsible for reporting to senior leaders on the UnitedHealthcare - Employer & Individual financial results
• Manages the financial close process including general ledger maintenance and oversight
• Drives strategic project implementations impacting the segment as it relates to Health Care Reform, new business decisions and other process enhancements
• Develops strong relationships by proactively meeting with key leaders within finance and across the business
• Develops and maintains internal control structure and procedures for Financial Reporting, Health Care Reform (specifically, MLR rebates and risk adjustment), and SG&A
• Provides operational and technical accounting expertise to ensure compliance with GAAP, Company Policies, Health Care Reform rules, regulations and laws
• Collaborates with other functional areas (e.g. Financial Planning & Analysis, Revenue, Medical Reserving, Actuarial, Regulatory Accounting, and Corporate Accounting teams)
• Drives business process improvements related to finance processes and financial systems
• Leads the reserving process for provider settlements and other contingent liabilities, including regularly meeting with leaders within the Litigation, Regional Finance and Settlement Operations teams
• Manages the cash flow forecasting and analyzes changes in medical payables and premium receivablesYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications: -
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent education and experience
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible financial and operational management experience -
  • Advanced knowledge of financial systems, financial statements and management reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting rules (GAAP), ability to anticipate accounting and financial reporting issues, assess their implications, determine their impact, and implement an appropriate action plan
  • Ability to develop and improve business and accounting processesPreferred Qualifications: -
    • CPA and/or MBA
    • Healthcare experience
    • Solid organizational, problem solving, project management and inter-personal skills -
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills -
    • Advanced analytical and information gathering skills and ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive detailed data
