The Proposal Services team is a key driver of growth or our business and is responsible for managing our proposal responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for applications (RFAs) and requests for information (RFIs).As a Response Strategist/Storyteller, you will develop and execute RFP/RFI/RFA response strategies against our objectives while helping bring our proposals to life through the art of storytelling. With an eye towards detail, you will be responsible for translating data and proof points into compelling and coherent narratives that tell the story of our business at a national, state and local level. This position will also be responsible for working with other subject matter experts across the enterprise to ensure our response strategies and stories are accurate and capture the right message.You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute response strategies for proposals based on business and market objectives in collaboration with the entire proposal response team
• Lead and strengthen proposal responses through sound strategic direction and response framing/storytelling methodology
• Collaborate with larger growth team pre-RFP to ask questions, make suggestions and pull out detail of strategy and overall story theme
• Help to synthesize complex data and proof points to formulate a compelling and coherent story for key internal and external stakeholders
• Identify and involve appropriate subject matter experts to ensure our proposal response strategy and storytelling align to the market win themes
• Participate in cross-functional project teams, serving as the response strategist and storytelling expert to ensure content meets objectives and expectations
• Review prior Medicaid proposals to extract relevant content for use in proposal development and work with content managers to determine relevant elements
• Ensure content aligns to the strategy and is consistent with brand tone and voice guidelines
• Inspect and edit own work for clarity and compliance to requirements; work with proposal leadership to address editing issues
• Focus on continually innovating processes, ideas and strategies to better support proposal response efforts
• Develop long-term, scalable frameworks for proposal response strategies and storytelling
• Work with minimal guidance and proactively seek guidance on very complex tasks
• Partner with internal clients, upper management and support staff to ensure the proposal response strategy is in alignment with business and market objectives
• Work with proposal formatter to address proposal layout and publishing issues
• Participate in proposal review meetings to ensure proper inclusion of the response strategy and integration of stories
• Obtain review of content by internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable requirements (e.g., Legal, Clinical, Compliance)
• Define quantitative and qualitative measurement/evaluation processes to assess the effectiveness of the response strategy and storytelling (e.g. Surveys, focus groups, interviews, anecdotal data).
• Participate in ongoing continuous improvement of the Medicaid proposal development process, identify lessons learned and recommend changes for future responses (e.g., apply metrics to determine success of the process); including the response strategy and storytelling elements

    • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Technical Communications, Marketing/Advertising, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • 7+ years of experience in strategy development
    • 5+ years of experience in storytelling
    • Proven organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables effectively
    • Extensive understanding of all writing disciplines, including storytelling, conceptual and executional
    • Demonstrated inspirational, frank writing ability that avoids marketing fluff and health care jargon
    • Proven ability to understand data and proof points, and distill that information into a compelling and clear story
    • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

      • Experience writing in the health care industry
      • Experience as part of a proposal team
