As the -Director, Provider Liaisons, -you will be supporting a new business build from the ground up for the next several years. In this role, you will supervise the daily activities of the business, including direct engagement with providers and collaboration with existing UnitedHealth Group departments, processes, and technologies. This position requires a motivated self-starter with a blend customer service experience, provider negotiation, process knowledge, and strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Managers and/or Provider Liaisons who will engage directly with consumers to provide support and guidance, gather appropriate information, and maintain ongoing communications with providers until the consumer issue has been resolved
  • Provide experience and guidance to research complex billing and claims issues across multiple systems, identify and complete root cause analysis, and partner with internal and external support resources to drive resolution
  • Strong familiarity with all provider types and contracting, as well as an understanding of the non-participating provider market dynamic
  • Identify, analyze, and solve process problems in order to improve the negotiation process and be able to communicate next steps with relevant parties (Consumer Advisors, UHC, providers and executives) to resolve consumer issues to mutual satisfaction
  • Work closely with UHC network teams to identify aberrant referral patterns of contracted providers and across multiple systems, share data, and define intervention alternatives
  • Define successful provider interactions, communications, and measurement in support of a growing business
  • Receive and resolve any escalated provider issues or complaints
  • Examine, evaluate, and develop ongoing changes to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Leverage operational reports to analyze and monitor team performance and productivity
  • Provide one on one coaching and conduct performance reviews
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, and training of the Managers and Provider Liaisons

Required Qualifications:
    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
    • 5+ years of provider negotiation experience OR negotiation experience on behalf of a medical office or other healthcare providers, experience with call center management, ability to quickly identify, analyze and solve process/workflow problems in order to improve the negotiation process
    • 4+ years of leadership and management experience
    • Highly motivated individual with a passion for helping consumers navigate the complicated healthcare system
    • Critical thinker with the ability to solve complex problems
    • Ability to quickly establish productive relationships through electronic and telephonic means which are beneficial to both Naviguard and the provider.
    • Ability to listen skillfully, collect relevant information, build rapport and respond to providers in a compassionate yet firm manner
    • Proficiency with Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system applications -Preferred Qualifications:
      • Experience with UnitedHealth Group departments and systems, particularly network management, network negotiation or provider services
      • Familiarity with contracting methodologies and processes employed by UHC network management
      • Ability to tailor know solutions to meet the needs of a rapidly changing business
      • Experience managing multiple, intersecting business unit relationships
