The VP of Product's scope will encompass consumer experience, competitive intelligence, national and local product strategy, and the building of the implementation for consumer benefits across multiple states and markets serving a diverse set of members, including state and federal partners. The VP of product will build innovative consumer benefits and capabilities and work alongside digital, experience, operations, and engineering to bring our member experience to life. This leader will be responsible for driving our Individual membership, Net Promoter Score (NPS) and financial goals across the business. You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the broader product team which supports product strategy, competitive intelligence, product analytics, benefit design creation, filing, product operations, capability deployment and product launch in existing states /markets and new states / markets
  • Build the national and local product strategy and portfolio balancing membership, NPS and financial goals across all metal levels and plan types
  • Own subject matter expertise in Individual /Exchange-related requirements from CMS and for each state, drawing from lessons learned from existing members, competitors, industry dynamics, regulatory partners, and other UHC lines of business
  • Work closely with multiple functional teams including legal / regulatory, clinical, network, local markets, and pricing to leverage data to design products that meet member needs and provide competitive advantage to achieve our membership and financial goals
  • Own product operations and product experience working closely with operations, engineering, digital, sales and marketing to ensure products are ready and deliver a high-quality member experience
  • Develop strategy and scale ancillary products and capabilities to support our national and local product strategy (i.e., Dental, Vision, Fitness, etc.) leveraging UHG assets as well as partners that can meet our member experience and financial objectives
  • Build product management infrastructure, processes, automation and testing to ensure products are filed 100% on-time, configured with 100% accuracy and tested to ensure readiness ahead of shopping and open enrollment
  • Demonstrate systems thinking to readily identify downstream impacts of decisions, collaborate across entire business, and proactively develop alternatives if products impact member experience or financial performance
  • Lead market research efforts, competitive intelligence, scenario-planning, and business analysis required to understand and predict competitive landscape shifts and refine products based on research to achieve business objectivesYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 10+ years of experience product development, product ops, vendor management
    • 5+ years of experience in analytics driven and fact-based decision making
    • Experience in leading product teams, including product filing experience
    • Experience working collaboratively across multiple functional areas (network, actuarial, clinical) and fostering teamwork
    • Experience leading complex initiatives in an ambiguous environment with rapidly changing priorities
    • Experience interacting with the legislative/regulatory process at the state or federal level
    • Advanced level knowledge of healthcare
    • Experience with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
    • Detailed knowledge of the Individual market segments
    • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint and ExcelPreferred Qualifications:
      • MBA
      • Extensive experience in the healthcare industry
      • Experience in a Start-up / Growth business
      • Experience interacting with executive leadership
      • Able to balance strategic thinking with the urgency to drive work forward
      • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in work direction and pivot work accordingly
      • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems
      • Team player with strong ability to form working professional relationships

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: - The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $169,500 to $322,500.
