turn this vision into a reality we need an Associate Director of
DEI Community Engagement and Social Impact who is not only
creative, but also can turn DEI, sustainability, and social impact
strategies into implemented plans. We need a person who is an A+
project manager, who can inspire leaders but also hold them
accountable to important metrics, and who can cultivate an
equitable and inclusive culture of impact through highly effective
execution. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit,
the ability to work across sectors and industries, the ability to
think expansively and creatively in evolving strategic approach,
exhibit enthusiasm in promoting and institutionalizing systemic
change, and bring a fierce commitment to diversity, equity, and
inclusion (DEI). This role is a part of UnitedHealth Group Global
DEI office and reports to the Sr. Director of DEI. Primary
Responsibilities:
- Partner with core functions of the Sustainability Office to
conceptualize, develop, align, and implement strategic projects and
partnership with community organizations in alignment with the
enterprise mission and DEI strategy, short and long-term
- Provide thought partnership and strategic creative solutions
across integrated teams on a broad range of societal,
sustainability and ESG issues
- Help implement the enterprise strategy execution for
coordinated community outreach efforts, volunteerism and employee
giving efforts
- Help the ideation planning, development and management of novel
strategies that may result in the greatest impact to help improve
outcomes for underserved communities
- Provide outcome reporting on defined cadence, highlighting key
achievements and opportunity areas
- Serve as day-to-day Global DEI Office liaison on assigned
social impact initiatives, contributing to internal and external
communications strategies and campaigns on behalf of the
enterprise
- Lead multiple cross-firm initiatives simultaneously, though all
flowing into one narrative of impact
- Inspire and mobilize team members to support and lead efforts
outside of their job scopes
- "Manage" volunteer leaders across the businesses in driving
initiatives forward
- Measure program performance using appropriate tools and
techniques; be able to handle issues but also know when to report
and escalate to management
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and
impact measurement framework
- Stay informed of latest research, news, and best practices
around diversity, equity, social responsibility, and opportunities
for UnitedHealth Group to drive systemic change across the health
system through internal changes, funding, or in collaboration with

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Communications, Business or equivalent
experience
- 3+ years of professional experience successfully leading and
executing a project from initial approval through implementation
and execution using skills in project management, measurement, and
operational leadership expertise
- Experience successfully driving initiatives in a large,
matrixed, multi-office organization
- Experience uniting people around a common purpose, or ability
to show why you know you can
- Proven experience in identifying with individuals from any
background, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic
class
- Depth of knowledge in diversity, equity, and inclusion and the
ability to bring forth thought leadership internally and externally
to affect positive change
- Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this
role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster
doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth

well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of
vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to

Qualifications:
- 3+ years of managing broad scale organizational/enterprise
diversity, inclusion and equity strategies and/or learning
strategies
- 3+ years of experience interfacing with Senior Leadership
team
- Experience developing social impact and community engagement
programs that address equity, systemic bias, cultural safety,
identity awareness, navigating conflict, racial dialogue, and power
dynamics
- Proven track record of influencing leaders and experience
working with and influencing all levels of employees; inspiring
others to engage, participate and act
- Experience with building programs to scale
- Knowledge of and connections in Minneapolis and surrounding
area non-profit and social impact landscape
- Proven communication skills - verbal, interpersonal,
presentation, and facilitation along with written message
development
- Proven track record of effectively managing conflict, resolving
issues, and mitigating risks
- Demonstrated experience community engagement and social impact
strategies and delivering outcomes
- Emotional intelligence, good listener, inspirational
communicator, ability to build relationships To protect the health
