creating innovative and affordable solutions. The Product Director
role is important to the UHC Employer and Individual Product Team
and part of the multi-disciplinary product management profession,
one in which successful candidates must develop and demonstrate
excellence in strategic and critical thinking, product design and
development, consumer experience design, issue resolution and
matrix leadership. The Product Director will play a pivotal role in
achieving company blue chips, supporting the attainment of Clinical
Transformation and Affordability goals and growing the complex care
management solutions to meet the current market demands. The role
will afford the opportunity to learn and engage with nearly all
functions of the Employer and Individual organization, and
possibility of pursuing numerous career paths down the road.
Positions in this job family perform research, development and
presentation of new or existing products. Reviews product
performance against expectations and facilitates or influences
changes to product portfolio to improve competitive position and
optimal product performance. May work with internal or external
business constituents to determine product future direction or
respond to product inquiries. May be project-based and involve
working within multiple product functions. You'll enjoy the
flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you
take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the strategy, planning, prioritization,
management and deployment of UnitedHealthcare, Optum and
UnitedHealth Group or vendor-sourced products and programs in
support of the UnitedHealthcare overall business strategy
Understands customer and consumer needs, the marketplace in which
their product(s) compete, the competitors against whom their
product(s) compete, the distribution channels through which they
are sold, the media through which they are experienced, and the
enterprise operational and technology capabilities to design and
develop solutions that provide value to our customers
- Proactively collaborates across the enterprise to identify,
deliver and support the best "Better Together" solution
- Exemplifies the UnitedHealth Group culture in its words and its
actions
- Executes its work with operational discipline following project
management best practices and holds its business partners to the
same standards
- Measures financial and growth goals towards defined
organizational objectives
- Manages products through their lifecycle including making
recommendations to and/or taking steps to sunset products or
programs deemed no longer strategic or successful
- Support the on-going management of capabilities in the
market
- Assure the product is functioning in accordance with the
standards
- Support product sales, marketing and distribution
- Support product/portfolio management
- Report on and evaluate product performance relative to
objectives
- Complete product research and presentation of new or existing
products to support the sale of products and/or services
- Facilitates or influences changes to product portfolio to
improve competitive position and optimal product performance
- Monitor, understand consumer and customer needs and translate
them into product requirements
- Managing product lifecycle through supporting strategic product
planning and execution including repositioning and sunset, as well
as working with cross-functional partners including, but not
limited to: Marketing, Actuary, Underwriting, Healthcare Economics,
Operations, Finance, Market Research, Sales and Account Management,
Clinical Services, Customer Service, and others
- May be project-based and involve working within multiple

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of experience in product development and
management
- 5+ years of experience in managing and reporting health care
data
- Demonstrable experience in defining product strategies and
product design in large health care insurance companies or health
systems
- Solid experience in leading and coordinating priorities and
contributions from a highly matrixed cross functional team
- Ability to travel up to 10% based on business need Careers at

or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California,
Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island or Washington
residents is $118,000 to $226,800. Pay is based on several factors
including but not limited to education, work experience,
certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group

contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility
