Overview:Join a vital technology team enabling the heart of Securian Financial's business! The Claims Agile Team has an opening for a Lead Software Engineer on our Claimant Experience product team.As a member of the Claimant Experience team your focus will be on expanding our digital capabilities for our Supplemental Health customers through a new platform, our Digital Claims Portal. - This hands-on role will help set and implement the technical direction to meet customer expectations working as a member of an agile team and collaborating closely with enterprise partners such as Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Cyber Security, and others.Responsibilities include but not limited to:Enabling our Claims experiences with an Enterprise Technology lens for customers and end users through ability to:Drive complex technical decisions related to architecture, design, and delivery of scalable and robust software solutions that enable us to meet or exceed customer requirements.Execute full stack development to deliver a high-quality product exercising cross-functional skills on a self-organizing agile team.Apply continuous learning from a technology and business perspective, quickly adapting to figure out the problem at hand and propelling the team forward on a solution.Mentor others both on the team and across the division.Manage code repository and provides direction regarding technical health.Qualifications:5+ years experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling).Technical experience with Service oriented architecture, leveraging things such as Java, JavaScript, Gradel, SQL, and JPA, among others.Experience with complex web applications and backend services.Inherent curiosity towards new and emerging technologies.Experience with rewriting and patching legacy software applications.Familiarity with YUI and Jquery.Strong communication skills (written and verbal).Results-driven work ethic.Independent working style with an emphasis on accountability.Ability to navigate ambiguity.Collaborative.Knowledge & experience utilizing AWS capabilities (EC2, Serverless, and Lambda, among others).**This position will be in a remote working arrangement with occasional visits expected throughout the year to the Securian Financial Home Office in St. Paul, MN.**Physical job requirements:New hire associates, regardless of work location or job responsibilities, must be vaccinated before beginning employment; exceptions considered for medical or religious reasons provided alternative reasonable accommodations do not create an undue hardship on the business.Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per dayAbility to work at least 40 hours per weekAbility to utilize telephone for up to 8 hours per dayAbility to perform grasping tasks throughout the entire work day (examples: handwriting, grasping of equipment/machines, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, handling stacks of paper)The physical job requirements described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
