(sm) Positions in this function provide legal advice and services on issues concerning the rights, obligations, risks and privileges of the organization. Acquire deep knowledge of the industry and the specific business practices of the Clinical Services Organization within UnitedHealth Group so as to best advise senior business leaders. Provides a full range of legal advice and services and may specialize in one of more areas such as transactional work, commercial law, contracts law, benefit law, insurance law, regulatory and compliance.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within United States as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide legal support for clinical quality and value creation programs
• Provide--legal support for benefit interpretation processes and coordinating with product development and customer accounts organizations
• Analyze state and federal laws applicable to managed care plans
• Provide legal counsel on the development and implementation of medical and reimbursement policies and administrative protocols across the enterprise
• Support product development and benefit interpretation processes
• Coordinate--with and supporting the Regulatory Affairs department in responding to regulatory inquiries; assisting with development and deployment of regulatory outreach strategies
• Handle complex legal projects You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of legal experience
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders Preferred Requirements:--
    • Live within the vicinity Minnetonka, MN/Denver, C/Hartford CT and telecommute will be considered--
    • Clinical background--
    • Experience with regulatory agencies--
    • Knowledge of U.S., state contract, corporate health care and regulatory law
    • Strong understanding of the laws pertaining to health insurance and/or managed care industry--
    • Understanding of health care benefit coverage and medical policy development
    • Proven success in collaborating across a matrixed business and legal environment
    • Demonstrated understanding of business problems related to assigned legal projects
    • Well-developed written and verbal communications skills
    • Excellent presentation skills
    • Ability to evaluate and determine appropriate legal course of action to meet business unit needs
    • Ability to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates, and external company contacts --
