Job Description:
The company is committed to supporting Social Determinants of
Health (SDoH) and progress as it relates to Health Disparities for
our members and the communities that we serve. The Vice President
of Social Determinants of Health will be responsible for building
and scaling a national solution to address social determinants and
social disparities for members across our entire footprint, while
also creating localized community-based solutions for specific
markets and populations.In this role, the Vice President of Social
Determinants of Health Product leader will be responsible for the
end-to-end product build including working with a wide variety of
internal and external partners. Internal partners include finance,
operations, technology, data & analytics, local health plan leaders
and front-line Advocates. From an external perspective, partners
may include SDoH vendors, state regulators, CMS, providers / health
systems, brokers and suppliers such as community-based
organizations.This leader will be responsible for operationalizing
the Government Programs SDoH vision of screening 4M members across
a number of different touchpoints while also building and enabling
a model where, when a need is identified, the company can make a
high-quality referral to community based services, close the loop
with internal and external partners and ultimately drive high
quality care and outcomes for our members and the overall program.
In addition to our vision for SDoH, the Vice President will work
closely with our Government Programs team to develop and implement
our health disparities agenda including home-based testing efforts,
COVID-19 testing and support and our Community Catalyst
model.Urgent Areas of FocusCritical to the success of the position
will be building one team and aligning on one the company strategic
vision, directing the build and operations of the program,
coordinating the vision / plan across markets and vendor partners,
developing policies and procedures and enterprise training for
scale and consistency. This leader will establish business
reporting and monitoring to manage program results against
established metrics and benchmarks, ensuring cost-effective
delivery of services for members who need it most and serve as the
subject matter expert as we buildout the overall program with
strategic partners.Overarching Responsibilities:Strategic Business
Ownership & Leadership* P&L responsibilities for multi-product
revenue as well as SG&A and capital expenses* Work across the
enterprise to ensure appropriate product development to support
growth initiatives* Lead and drive large scale SDoH initiatives;
assist with program governance and allocate resources including
business plan and operational execution* Develop, translate and
execute strategies or functional/operational objectives at the
segment level* Work across businesses/market groups to ensure
alignment across regions and across matrix partners* Advise
Executive Leadership Team of SDoH priorities and business needs;
directly engage with and influences leaders to drive key decisions
and resource allocation* Execute against strategic, tactical and
operational goals in partnership with market and regional
leadership and cross-functional partners. Navigate and influence
multiple cross-functional teams in a complex, matrix work
environment* Develop, train and hire expertise to grow the products
within the portfolioPerformance & Affordability* Develop
measurements and metrics to manage outcomes via the use of SDoH and
create / measure clinical savings and quality outcomes* Oversee
enterprise vendor management with more than 10+ vendors; this
includes identification, negotiation of enterprise multi-million
dollar agreements and management of on-going relationships* Manage
program portfolio to improve competitive position and optimal
performance* Define short- and long-term roadmaps for analytic
tools and medical expense programs that ensure financial
sustainability and predictability* Collaborate with applicable
stakeholders to obtain input and buy-in to program strategies*
Analyze and understand reports/reporting levers; identify reasons
for performance gaps and identify opportunities for improved
financial performance and enhanced return on investmentSocial
Determinants of Health Advocacy* Serve as UHG executive for AMA
collaboration, NCQA, National Association liaison for SDoH along
with other key organizations* Serve as UHG internal and external
Executive spokesperson for the Division and UHG's work related to
thought-leadership related to Social Determinants of Health usage
and ICD-10 progressYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your

in.Required Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree in behavioral
health, psychology, social work, public health/administration or
related field or RN license* 10+ years of clinical, operations, or
product development experience in the healthcare industry* 8+ years
leadership experience including responsibilities for developing
business plans, building and managing operations, hiring, training,
managing performance of staff and managing a large matrix of
internal and external partners to accomplish your goal*
Demonstrated business operations and execution expertise, ability
to quickly diagnose and solve complex problems* Good negotiation,
planning and decision-making skills. Accurately scopes out
projects, sets objectives and goals, develops schedules and
resource assignments, measures performance against goals, and
evaluates results* Proven cross-functional and executive-level
influence and well-developed relationship building skills, willing
to take a leadership role driving initiatives, working across
organizations and structuring approaches to new opportunities*
Ability to effectively deal with and navigate ambiguity - can cope
with change, can shift gears comfortably, comfortably handles risk
and uncertainty in a manner consistent with UnitedHealth Group's
core values* Demonstrated leadership and hands-on experience,
strong leader and motivator with the ability to mentor talent
within the organization; able to provide work direction;--able to
attract and retain top talentPreferred Qualifications:* Master's
degree, MBA, or MPH* 5+ years of experience with community-based
organizations, FQHC's, Medicaid and prior relevant work experience
focused on SDoH and Health Disparities
