Join us and start doing your life's best work.(sm) As we continue to scale and mature our National Shared Services Operations, there is a critical need to create an Environment Management program that will ensure that standardized methods and procedures are used for effective end to end management of test environments. The Associate Engineer - Environment Management Lead is accountable for working with project managers, product owners, and business operators to primarily focus on tracking and scheduling of test environments and integrating a number of conflicting inputs to support testing across multiple generations of interconnected systems. This role will be responsible for adapting to aggressive timelines, forecasting hardware and database demands far in the future, and managing conflicts between groups with competing goals. Works closely with Operations, Application Development, and IT QA to ensure conflicts and collisions between multiple groups seeking access to limited resources. Continuously strives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with regulations. You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within United States as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. Project Tracking - Tracking all projects that are utilizing a given test environment - Tracking what projects are expected to be tested for each environment - Knowledge of who are the leads / owners of the projects - Understanding of key milestones: Identifying the duration, start and end dates anticipated for the given project, including go live dates Knowledge of environment /regions - what connections to applications exist in the environment (s) and data alignment across all applications - Awareness of Onshore / offshore restrictions for project data - Awareness and oversight of schedules for code deployments and configuration pushes to each environment Understanding of Data Migration from one environment to another - Data migration from one environment to another - Coordination of dependent connecting applications to align data to support global end to end testing - Knowledge of data load process tied to membership and providers, benefits, contracts, claims etc. (all operational workstreams) for loading into the environment - Tracking of data.Identifying what data is being used by each project to prevent others from utilizing the data - Data reporting as appropriate - Understanding of compliance requirements (Spark approval) to utilize production data Environment Refresh Activities - Tracking of refresh activities, keeping historical records of past refreshes form where were they refreshed - Knowledge of how to put back data that was previously in the test environment and reloading back specific data after refresh (backups) - Coordination of refreshes for all resources utilizing the environment - Communication to all resources utilizing the environment to bring awareness of the refresh and the impacts Batch Jobs - Knowledge of master batch job list and what each job does as well as timing expected for each to complete, and what batch jobs are running in the test environment (s) and their dependencies Gatekeeper (approver) to specific batch jobs. Understanding of batch job contention to prevent adverse impact within the environment (s) Detail Oriented - demonstrate a track record of organizing and tracking the progress of multiple projects across the software development life cycle (SDLC) Relationship Focused - this position will involve interaction with various operational stakeholders throughout the organization that will require collaboration and effective communication on topics including but not limited to project timelines, contingency plans, resource allocation, risks and issues, reporting and tracking Develop process to track test environments required for QA Create short-term plan to deliver environments to support development Coordinate activities of release engineers to automate the setup and configuration of test environments Monitor and guarantee uptime of test environments Provide ongoing support for test environments Develop KPIs to track efficacy of test environment delivery efforts Resolve conflicts between teams competing for limited testing resources Move test environment activities toward a goal of automation when and where applicable to ensure efficiency Provide estimates for onboarding of new projects to test environments Design systems to support continuous delivery and adapt test environment management to support the organization growth and expansion You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Health Services, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience in the health care industry 5+ years of project management experience 5+ years of data management experience, preferably in managed care 3+ years of work experience in a high matrixed corporate setting 2+ years of data analysis and / or audit experience Advanced level of proficiency working with Microsoft Excel including formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, etc. Advanced level of proficiency in tracking, trending and reporting on metrics If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener.
