We are focused on listening to customers to better understand and service their needs, identifying opportunities for growth within the market, and pursuing ways to leverage technology and automation both within our manufacturing plants, but also across our entire organization for our long-term success.Procurement & Purchasing VisionOur Procurement & Purchasing department serves as a valued strategic partner ensuring our manufacturing operations teams have the necessary containers and raw materials needed to produce and fulfill customer orders on time. The department also plays an important role in helping manage our inventory levels and ensuring we have a solid forecast to predict customer demand. This Jr Buyer position plays a key role managing the purchasing of our containers, office supplies, bulk tanks, and other routine materials that require purchasing. This role will offer you growth by providing you experience with the basics of purchasing and then expanding to add additional purchasing duties and projects as your skillset grows, all under the mentorship of our Procurement & Purchasing Lead. You'll the catalyst to our shift toward a center-led purchasing philosophy. It's an opportunity to get your foot in the door and have career security by gaining valuable experience!What You Will Get To Do Each Day:Container & Bulk Tank PurchasingYou'll spend a majority of your time reviewing inventories of our empty containers and bulk tanks, confirming lead times & pricing with vendors, submitting Purchase Orders (POs), tracking orders & monitoring for delivery, communicating details with operations, and confirming receipt of the correct items. This will also include working to set up a system for easier inventory tracking of containers to allow for more automated purchasing of them in the future.Other Purchasing Responsibilities & Vendor RelationshipsYou will also spend time conducting additional purchasing tasks, such as:

  • Reviewing and resolving supplier invoice discrepancies.
  • Analyzing inventory levels to coincide with changing customer demand, lead time changes, and other initiatives in coordination with the sales and planning teams.
  • Utilizing the Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) system to create better forecasting for needed materials.
  • Partner with vendors on the availability of materials, delivery time, and supplier visits. Participate in evaluations & negotiations with vendors.
  • Ensuring problems relating to delivery, quality, service, or pricing are promptly conveyed to the vendor and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Processing returns for defective materials.
  • Participating in inventory and cost reduction initiatives, such as scrap reduction and slow moving inventory consumption in coordination with the R&D department and production planning. What You Will Need To Be Successful:
    • An Associate's degree in Operations, Supply Chain & Logistics Management, or similar field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • 0-2 years of purchasing/procurement experience. Previous internship experience is a plus.
    • A willingness to roll up your sleeves and dig into the data to research the best possible outcome, review trends, or physically look through received material to determine what it is. Strong problem-solving skills are essential.
    • The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written to ensure adequate information is shared across all impacted departments tied into the purchasing process.
    • A strong attention to detail.
    • An organized approach to your work and drive to keep assignments & projects moving.
