Senior Principal Cloud Architect - Telecommute OptumLab's efforts are driven by math, data, and clinical science, but also focus on the human connections required to understand and treat the chronic diseases that afflict nearly half of the world's population. We then apply these things via research studies, clinical trials, and pilot programs that identify new ways to prevent, detect, and intercept disease for our members. The Senior Principal Cloud Architecture role will bring an advanced and experienced level of knowledge and demonstrable skillset across multiple cloud platforms, software development practices and technology architecture patterns. They will use different methods, tools and practices to achieve automation and solution creation in cloud providers. This role is as much software developer as cloud engineer. We leverage industry leading tools and technologies, are 100% cloud centric, and innovate rapidly. You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for building platforms and frameworks to create consistent, verifiable, and automatic management of applications and infrastructure between non-production and production environments across multiple cloud providers
• Will be designing and implementing cloud architectures from the infrastructure to the web services and everything in between
• Leverage automation to build complete solutions and deliver them to the customer base
• Take non-technical business requirement and build technical solutions
• Evaluation of emerging technologies and the implementation of those technology as part of solution building
• Provides mentorship and technical leadership of team members
• Managing the DevSecOps process, defining the controls, integration points and policy enforcement across multiple cloud providers
• We're looking for an experienced technical leader who can design platforms as well as get their hands dirty writing code and implementing them
• Translate requirements into software design. Chooses correct software components, packages, languages and libraries, responsible for maintaining good coding practices and maintaining all development and code management tools
• System operational support, system design, modern system components, code lifecycle tools (build/deploy/code management/review), failure analysis and prediction, alternative analysis, statistical analysis
• Responsible for software build process and testing processes that are triggered automatically You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience managing and using a Public Cloud Providers (Google, AWS, Azure)
  • 3+ years of experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Automation tools and REST API's
  • Experience with software design and development
  • Experience with Unix or Linux Administration
  • Experience with OS Packaging and containerization
  • Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking
  • Experience keeping up with the latest development in open source frameworks and emerging technologies
  • Experience with one or more CICD and DevOps tools but not limited to Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform (CICD)
  • Advanced skills in debugging and resolving technical problems across a wide range of technology platforms

    • Experience performing peer code reviews
    • Experience with UML / Architectural Drawing producing architectural artifacts
    • Object oriented design and development practices
    • Adherence (and preferably set benchmark for others) for coding standards and also secure coding practices, use of encryption
    • Experience with functional programming
    • Experience Advanced level knowledge of concurrency and must be able to demonstrate prior practical experience in different methods of achieving concurrency controls
    • Reason differences between blocking and non-blocking programming with practical examples and pick appropriate approach for the development problems
    • Experience working with web application development, distributed and parallel systems with ability to perform diagnostic using log aggregation as well as APM tools
    • Experience with test driven development using opensource technologies but not limited to Junit, Cucumber, Protractor etc. (ATDD)
    • Experience designing Design and implement product features in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders
    • Experience designing reusable components, frameworks and libraries
    • Solid understanding of server technologies such as Java, C#, node
