as you take on some tough challenges. -A Lead Research Analyst
(LRA) in Optum Labs works directly with Optum Labs Partners and
Principal Scientists on a variety of health care research projects
and applied data initiatives. - The LRA consults with and advises
researchers on all phases of a research project and executes
multiple phases of a project including; study design, research
protocol development, programming specifications, creating analytic
data sets, data verification, descriptive and multivariate
statistical analysis, and tables and figures for final reports. The
LRA identifies the need for and leads research infrastructure
projects and act as a statistical consultant for the researchers.
This role requires in depth working knowledge of secondary data
assets in applied research settings. Includes but not limited to
testing and analyzing new data and software, will act as a data and
methods consultant, and perform data analysis, using both
traditional health services/health outcomes methods and more novel
data science techniques. The LRA will contribute to the
intellectual design and interpretation of research projects. -In
some cases, LRAs will oversee the activities of research analysts.

Responsibilities: -In this role you will be responsible for the
following: -Research and Data Consulting for Oputm Labs partners
(80%) may include (but are not limited to)
- Advise researchers in:
- Navigation of the Optum Labs data environment
- Appropriate use of the data assets
- Programming (SAS, SQL) best practices
- Interpretation of data findings
- Coordinate training as needed
- Assist partner researchers with resolution of data problems,
questions
- Support execution of projects by partner researchers when
requested, including:
- Development of detailed study protocols
- Drafting of programming specifications
- Programming of analytic datasets
- Execution of descriptive and multivariate analysis
- Create tables and figures based on results
- Interpretation of findings to audiences of varying technical
skill levels Design, Programming, and Statistical analysis for
research studies in support of Oputm Labs (20%) may include (but
are not limited to)
- Design or advise on the design of studies using observational
data, develop detailed study protocols
- Conduct claims data extract and programming -
- Executing descriptive and multivariate statistical
analysis
- Explain findings to a variety of technical and non-technical
audiences
- Creating tables, figures, results
- Working closely with Researchers and Analysts to identify data
issues and solutions to the issues.
- Complete project analysis documentation according to department
standards
- Work within budgeted project hours
- Provide consultation for researchers on applied use of
observational data assets
- Training new employees and Partners on data use, statistical
methodology, and other aspects of observational research -
- Lead presentations/workshops for internal and external

Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Health Services
Research, Epidemiology, Economics, or similar field -
- 5+ years of experience programming in SAS or SQL
- 5+ years of experience in health services research or similar
research area -
- 5+ years of experience with administrative claims data, EHR/EMR
data, or complex relational health care databases required.
-Preference will be given to candidates with experience using
administrative claims assets for research -
- Do you have experience particpating in project design and
interpretation -Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in development of analytic plans and ability to
convert research protocols and plans to programming specifications

- Working knowledge of second programming language (e.g., R, SQL)

- Solid background in statistical methods with observational
data
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail -

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to
$146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is
$90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but
not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In
