Job Summary
Senior Staff Engineers are focused on improving engineering
excellence at VWTS. They guide both technical content and
engineering processes and tools. The Sr. Staff Engineer -
Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) supports E&I engineers
in all regions, connecting engineers and leaders within this
critical discipline. Therefore, the successful candidate must
possess communication and project management competencies along
with technical expertise.
E&I engineering is essential to the success of VWTS projects
across all regions. In this role, you will collaborate with leaders
to develop and create systems, tools, and processes supporting
continuous improvement. Further, you will administer safety,
quality, and design standards for the global projects engineering
organization.

Duties & Responsibilities[1]
- Create and administer a global community of technical experts
drawn from regional engineering teams. This community will:
- Be a resource for safety reviews, design reviews, and technical
support for projects
- Support project needs to drive technical excellence in the
execution of VWTS product and project activities.
- Provide technical analysis and resolution of complex product
safety or technical problems both during design and in the
field.
- Create clear, user-friendly design standards, specifications,
design guides, and/or design practices, and drive consistent use of
technical design procedures.
- Approve design documentation as necessary in projects execution
process
- Guide engineers in proper use of engineering tools and
processes to ensure efficiency and quality
- Provide technical expertise on specification of
instrumentation, motor/motor control, electrical panels, heat
tracing, transformer, and other electrical components.
- Navigate electrical codes, technical regulations, and standards
(e.g. NEC, UL, CSA, IEC) to guide engineers and interact with
regulatory bodies.
- Support the global project safety review program and
participate in safety reviews with the product safety
leaders.
- Demonstrate expertise and technology leadership on
UF/MBR/RO/ED/ IX/Thermal/Anaerobic/Clarifiers/DAF and/or other
water treatment systems and process designs.
- Support informal and formal design reviews for ES Projects and
product-based designs.
- Interact on behalf of VWTS with customers and technical
societies and support development of new products and processes on
focused topics of interest.
- Transfer knowledge to engineers through teaching/training
programs and mentoring through specific task assignments designed
to develop specific areas of expertise.
- Interact with regional engineering teams to share best
technology practices and technology transfer where
relevant.
- Use SAP and other business tools and processes at an expert
level with the ability to provide direction to a diverse team.

- Technical expertise in Electrical and Instrumentation
Education & Experience
Required:
- At least 5 years product/project design or field
experience
- Four-year BS degree (post graduate degree preferred)
- Strong influencing and a minimum 2 years of experience in a
leadership capacity
- Open communication style and proven ability to develop team
relationships, including global team
Preferred:
- Ability to develop tools / methods for engineering productivity
and quality
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and computer
skills
- Genuine interest in technology, with an eye for detail and an
analytical mind
- Self-motivated, ability to drive projects to completion with
minimal oversight while demonstrating communication, influencing
and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in facilitating multi-functional matrixed teams
with multiple demands and priorities
- Effective multitasking and ability to deliver on time and with
quality
- Excellent project management skills unfailing dedication to
deadlines and commitments
- Good understanding of interfacing areas such as medium/high
voltage, controls, programming, and mechanical engineering
- Ability to travel globally
- P.E. license
